National HIV/AIDS Council (NAC) held |

The 11th regular Assembly of the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Council (NAC) was held at National Palace on Nov 8, 2008 for half of a day.
The assembly meeting was chaired by H.E Girma WoldeGeorgis, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Also, present on the occasion were first Lady W/ro Azeb Mesfin, Ministers, Regional Administrators, Head of various religious organizations, reputable individuals, Regional Health bureau heads, regional HAPCO heads, Federal HAPCO representatives and invited guests.
The meeting was officially opened by H.E the president. H.E. Dr. Tewdros Adhanom, The Federal Ministry of Health, and by Dr. Betru Tekle Director General of Federal HIV/AIDS Prevention and control office presented the multisectoral HIV/AIDS responses performance report of the Ethiopian fiscal year 2000. The participant discussed on the report and gave direction on what must be done in the year future.

WHO conducted HIV/AIDS case study on the patient monitoring system in Ethiopia.The Preliminary findings was presented at FHAPCO hall 9th floor November 6, 2008 Whereby almost all stakeholders participated.
The purpose of the study was
· Document best practices in patient and program monitoring for experience sharing · Focusing on WHO paper based system and · Expected outcome: ü A report on 3 country experiences (Ethiopia, India?, Guyana?) as a resource document for other countries

HIV/AIDS Multi-sectorial Response Joint Review Meeting Held |

FHAPCO in collaboration with the partners conducted Joint Annual Multi-sectorial HIV/AIDS Review Meeting and planning workshop in Dire Dawa town at Samrat Hotel, from October 20-22/2008.The objectives of the meeting were to review the annual 2000EFY performance of the joint federal and regional POA, and endorsement of the 2001EFY Joint plan.
More than 200 participants from Regional Health Bureaus, Regional HAPCOs, line ministry representatives, FBOs, PLWHA Net-works, FHAPCO, Donors, and other Anti HIV/AIDS organization/institutions /associations were participated. HIV/AIDS Intervention plan of Action_2001 EFY
