Federal HAPCO published the monthly update on ART in Ethiopia, "HIV Care and ART Update for the month Meskerem, 2001 (as of October 8, 2008) and Tikimit, 2001 (as of November 8, 2008)" . The update lists ART uptake by site and number of new enrolled patients in Ethiopia as of the above mentioned dates. Leadership should intensify HIV/AIDS battle: |

EFDR Prime Minister Meles Zenawi
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the leadership at all levels should intensify the battle against HIV/AIDS. World AIDS Day is marked today in Fiche town of Oromia State with the theme “leadership”.
In his message in connection with the Day, the Prime Minister said the Day is marked under the theme to further strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Premier said the main objective of the government is to ensure democracy and good governance, extricate the country from poverty and make it one of the middle income countries. |

20th World AIDS Day Celebrated colorfully! |

The 20th international World AIDS Day was colorfully celebrated at National Level in Oromiya regional sate at Fiche Town .Thousands of people in and around Fiche town gathered together early in the morning and have staged different cultural shows. H.E Dr. Kebede worku ,State Minister of the Federal Minsitry of Health, H.E Ato Abdulaziz Mohamed Deputy Head of Oromiya Regional State, Dr.Betru Tekle, Director general of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office, Representatives of UNAIDS Dr. Alit zwandor and other invited guests were present on the occasion.
