Federal HAPCO published the monthly update on ART in Ethiopia, "HIV Care and ART Update for the month Nehase 2000 EFY " (for the month August 2007, as of September 10, 2007). Two HIV prevalence rates had been determined following national exercises conducted in Ethiopia. One of these used the population-based method and the other used sentinel surveillance based on ANC (ante-natal care) for pregnant women. The two exercises produced HIV prevalence estimate results in 2006 consisting of 1.4% for E-DHS and 3.5% for ANC.
Growth in global health problems and programs at a time when donors are expecting enhanced accountability, including reporting and transparency have created an enormous demand for M&E.
